Bread Pakora Recipe (Bread Pakoda)

Bread pakora is a popular Indian snack that is made with bread slices that are dipped in a batter and deep-fried. It is a quick and easy snack to make and is perfect for any occasion.

Ingredients:

  • 6-8 bread slices
  • 1 cup besan (gram flour)
  • 2 teaspoons lemon juice
  • 1/4 teaspoon baking soda
  • 1 teaspoon green chili (finely chopped)
  • 2 tablespoons fresh coriander (finely chopped)
  • 1 teaspoon ajwain
  • 1/2 teaspoon turmeric powder
  • Oil for frying

Instructions:

  1. In a bowl, combine all the ingredients except the bread slices. Add water and make a batter. The batter should be just thin enough to coat the back of a spoon.
  2. Heat oil for frying in a deep pan.
  3. Once the oil is hot, dip the bread slices in the batter and drop them in the hot oil.
  4. Deep fry until golden brown from both sides.
  5. Drain on a tissue-lined plate.
  6. Serve hot with coriander chutney.

Tips:

  • For a more flavorful bread pakora, add a few chopped onions and tomatoes to the batter.
  • You can also add a few spices to the batter, such as garam masala, coriander powder, and cumin powder.
  • If you want to make stuffed bread pakora, spread a thin layer of mashed potatoes or aloo stuffing on a bread slice and cover it with another bread slice. Dip the stuffed bread slice in the batter and deep-fry.
  • Bread pakora can be served with coriander chutney, tomato sauce, or green chutney.

Enjoy!

Here are some additional tips for making bread pakora:

  • Use fresh bread for the best results.
  • Make sure the batter is not too thick or too thin. If the batter is too thick, the bread pakora will be heavy and dense. If the batter is too thin, the bread pakora will not hold its shape.
  • Fry the bread pakora on medium heat so that they cook through evenly.
  • Do not overcrowd the pan when frying the bread pakora. This will lower the temperature of the oil and the bread pakora will not cook evenly.
  • Serve the bread pakora hot with your favorite chutney or sauce.
