Blog post title: Namak Para Recipe (Namak Pare): A Savory and Crispy Snack

Introduction:

Namak para (also known as nimki) is a popular Indian snack made with flour, oil, and spices. It is typically deep-fried and has a flaky and crispy texture. Namak para is often served with tea or coffee, and is also a popular snack to enjoy during festivals and holidays.

Ingredients:

  • 2 cups all-purpose flour (maida)
  • 1/4 cup semolina (suji)
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 1 teaspoon ajwain seeds (carom seeds)
  • 1/4 teaspoon black pepper powder
  • 1/4 teaspoon baking soda
  • 3 tablespoons ghee or oil
  • Water to knead the dough

Instructions:

  1. In a large bowl, combine the flour, semolina, salt, ajwain seeds, black pepper powder, and baking soda. Mix well.
  2. Add the ghee or oil and rub it into the flour mixture until it resembles coarse crumbs.
  3. Add water little by little and knead to form a stiff dough.
  4. Cover the dough with a damp cloth and let it rest for 30 minutes.
  5. Divide the dough into 4 equal parts.
  6. Roll out each part of the dough into a thin sheet of about 1/8 inch thickness.
  7. Cut the sheet into diamond-shaped pieces using a sharp knife.
  8. Heat oil in a frying pan over medium heat.
  9. Deep-fry the namak para pieces in batches until golden brown and crispy.
  10. Remove the namak para pieces from the oil and drain on paper towels.
  11. Let the namak para pieces cool completely before storing them in an airtight container.

Tips:

  • For a more flavorful namak para, add a teaspoon of cumin seeds or coriander seeds to the dough.
  • If you don't have a sharp knife, you can use a pizza cutter to cut the sheet of dough into diamond-shaped pieces.
  • Be careful not to overcrowd the frying pan when deep-frying the namak para pieces. This will lower the temperature of the oil and prevent the namak para from becoming crispy.
  • Let the namak para pieces cool completely before storing them in an airtight container. This will help to keep them crispy.
