Butter Murukku Recipe: A Crunchy and Savory Snack

Butter murukku is a popular South Indian snack that is made with rice flour, gram flour, roasted gram flour, butter, and spices. It is a crispy and savory snack that is perfect for any occasion.

Ingredients:

  • 1 cup rice flour
  • 1/2 cup gram flour
  • 1/4 cup roasted gram flour
  • 2 tablespoons butter, softened
  • 1 teaspoon cumin seeds
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • Water, as needed

Instructions:

  1. In a large bowl, combine the rice flour, gram flour, roasted gram flour, butter, cumin seeds, and salt. Mix well.
  2. Add water a little at a time, mixing until you have a dough that is soft and pliable.
  3. Fill a murukku press with the dough and press it out into a circular or spiral pattern into hot oil.
  4. Fry the murukkus until they are golden brown and crispy.
  5. Remove the murukkus from the oil and drain on paper towels.
  6. Allow the murukkus to cool completely before storing them in an airtight container.

Tips:

  • For a more flavorful murukku, you can add other spices to the dough, such as coriander powder, chili powder, or sesame seeds.
  • If you don't have a murukku press, you can use a zip-top bag with the corner cut off to pipe the dough into the hot oil.
  • Be careful not to overcrowd the pan when frying the murukkus. This will lower the temperature of the oil and make them soggy.
  • Murukkus can be stored in an airtight container for up to 2 weeks.

Enjoy!

Butter murukku is a delicious and easy snack to make. It is perfect for any occasion, whether you are having a party or just want a quick and tasty snack. So next time you are looking for something to eat, give butter murukku a try!
